We so much appreciate all who give to support the work of Interfaithfulness. Many people give because they value what we do. For this we are always grateful. Others will give because they appreciate the benefits they themselves have received. For such people, Interfaithfulness offers coaching, mentoring, counsel, functioning as a consultancy, “an agency offering expert or professional advice in a field.” Our field is wherever your life intersects with God, with Jewish and Christian others, and with the More Jewish Jesus. And our experience, education, and training adds value to the services we provide.
If we were charging a fee for our time, the charge could be as much as $250 per hour. But we prefer to operate on the basis of suggested donations.
Jews call this support approach tzedakah, the responsibility to give for the benefit of others. The Apostle Paul illustrates this approach in what we call "The Philippian Provision." He says this:
Now you Philippians also know that in the beginning of the Good News, when I left Macedonia, not a single community partnered with me in giving and receiving—except you alone. For even in Thessalonica you sent something for my need more than once. Not that I am looking for a gift, but for fruit that overflows to your credit (Phil 4:4-7).
While Paul did not charge fees for services rendered at Phillipi, he commended the Philippians for the donations they gave so he could serve others. And that is what your donations do for us as well. This is why your gifts are both necessary and appreciated. So, thank you!
